THE WAFER SYSTEM

The complete guide to choosing
your coffee machine

In the world of single-serve coffee, pods and capsules are two practical and popular solutions for making espresso at home or in the office. Although both methods offer convenience and quality, they have significant differences that may influence the choice of manufacturers and consumers.

CAPSULE

  • Non-biodegradable and high environmental impact
  • Higher costs
  • Compatibility limited to machine type
  • Disposal with aluminium and plastic

CIALDA

  • 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly
  • Reduced costs
  • Compatible with all machines
  • Disposal in the wet

HERE ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES

  • Format

the capsule is a paper filter that allows water and the blend to pass through during coffee preparation. The capsule is a small container made of aluminium or plastic that is resistant to high temperatures, the coffee from which is extracted from the machine after puncturing the casing

  • Conservation

pods to preserve the aroma are sealed inside a wrapper (same material used for packaging ground coffee). The capsule maintains the vacuum until consumption.

  • Quantity

pods generally contain 7 g of blend, coffee capsules may contain smaller amounts

  • Operation

The coffee pod machine has a removable arm into which the pod is placed and the blend is filtered by the system. The capsule is instead perforated by the machine to extract the blend and then convey it into the cup

We chose waffles!

The differences are many, but for us at Aroma there are a few key aspects that made the decision very easy

  • Universal compatibility

the pods are suitable for all machines using the E.S.E. standard.

  • Eco-friendly

the capsules are biodegradable and can be disposed of in the wet.

  • Coffee quality

extraction takes place evenly, thus keeping the coffee flavour intact.

  • Costs

    pods are cheaper than capsules.

  • Cleaning

the pods keep the machine cleaner as they have to be removed manually after dispensing while the capsules are automatically ejected into a collection container built into the machine and this accumulation can generate bacteria and bad smells

These are the reasons why at Aroma we have chosen to exclusively produce coffee pod machines.
