The pod system
THE POD SYSTEM
The complete guide to choosing
your coffee machine
In the world of single-serve coffee, pods and capsules are two practical and popular solutions for making espresso at home or in the office. While both methods offer convenience and quality, they have significant differences that can influence the choices of producers and consumers.
CAPSULE
-
Non-biodegradable and with a high environmental impact
-
Higher costs
-
Compatibility limited to machine type
-
Disposal with aluminum and plastic
wafer
-
100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly
-
Reduced costs
-
Compatible with all machines
-
Disposal in organic waste
BELOW ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES
-
Format
The pod is a paper filter that allows water and ground coffee to pass through when making coffee. The capsule is a small container made of aluminum or plastic that is resistant to high temperatures. The coffee is extracted from the machine by piercing the casing.
-
Conservation
To preserve the aroma, the pods are sealed inside a wrapper (the same material used to package ground coffee). The capsule maintains the vacuum until the moment of consumption.
-
Amount
pods generally contain 7 g of blend, coffee capsules can contain smaller quantities
-
Operation
The pod coffee machine is equipped with a removable arm into which the pod is placed and the blend is filtered by the system. The capsule is then pierced by the machine to extract the blend and then convey it into the cup.
We chose the wafers!
There are many differences, but for us at Aroma, there are some key aspects that made the decision very simple...
-
Universal compatibility
The pods are suitable for all machines that use the ESE standard
-
Eco-friendly
the pods are biodegradable and can be disposed of in organic waste.
-
Coffee quality
extraction occurs uniformly, thus keeping the flavour of the coffee intact.
-
Costs
Pods are cheaper than capsules.
-
Cleaning
The pods allow you to keep the machine cleaner since they must be removed manually after dispensing while the capsules are automatically ejected into a collection container integrated into the machine and this accumulation can generate bacteria and bad odors.
These are the reasons why at Aroma we have chosen to produce exclusively pod coffee machines.
